How to keep your work on a school Chromebook

Try saving to Google Drive

1. Open the file indicator next to the logo and choose Save to file…
2. In the save window, pick Google Drive → My Drive.
3. Turn on Autosave from the same indicator. Every change now goes straight into that file.

Next time

1. Open file… and pick your file from Google Drive.
2. Turn Autosave on again. Opening a file doesn't turn it on by itself.

Your Google Drive belongs to the account you signed in with, so you'll see the same files on any Chromebook you sign in to.

For teachers

• The Drive belongs to the student's school account, and lasts as long as that account does.
• If your school uses shared drives, they show up in the save window too. A shared class folder works for handing in work.

No Google Drive?

You won't see Google Drive in the save window if you signed in as a guest, or if your school turned Drive off. Use one of the other ways to keep your work.
